22.1.13 - TO ME, THAT SAYS IM A FUN KINDA GAL

First off, let me wish you all a very belated Christmas and New Year, I hope it was as messy as mine was. I've been on the downlow lately, doing some shoots and working my ass off, trying to save so I can do the big move to Melbourne.

I have some very exciting news, the shoot I did a month or so back with the wonderful Kim Akrigg, who is moving to the sunny Gold Coast from Canada in March, has been accepted into the Canadian fashion magazine GLASSbook. Always an amazing feeling when some hard work and dedication gets a reward.

Just a short post, but here are some sneak peek photos at the upcoming editorial for GLASSbook, and some behind the scenes photos of a shoot I did last week with another talented photographer, Dean Raphael, who is moving to Melbourne next week. As soon as I get some more photos from that one I will do an individual post and introduce you guys to a wonderful photographer.

10.12.12 - LADY OF THE WATER

Last week, a good friend of mine asked me to design the makeup for an upcoming editorial shoot with the amazing Kim Akrigg, who is currently in Australia.

Upon receiving the moodboards, I figured the makeup should look polished, but without too many textures on the skin - leaving all that to be in the clothes and surroundings.

I buffed Strobe Cream onto the skin, with lots of Fix+, and one of MAC's new primers - BB Cream, which makes for beautiful natural coverage skin. I opted for beautifully bruised eyes - herion chic!!!, and MAC Lip Erase in Dim. I contoured the skin with MAC contouring creams in Coffee Walnut and highlighted with Silver Dusk loose highlighting powder.

Most of the clothing supplied by We Are Submarine.
Customised stretch body harness by CVNT

These photos are not final.

6.12.12 - EYE PORN

Colour, textures, and aesthetics are all very important when creating a piece of art, so here are a few images that have been inspiring me as of lately.

- INDUSTRY PRO

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind! Work, shoots and more work! But honestly, you know you're in the right industry when you look forward to waking up and going to work everyday.

Speaking of industry, my new best friend, available on the App Store now, has been a lifesaver! I present to you.... IndustryPRO.

Developed by a fellow makeup artist, and dear friend of mine, this amazing application for your iPhone allows you to take images of every detail of a makeup trial. Its features mean you won't forget what products you used and how it looks in the final trial. The clients details also automatically sync with the maps function.

Using this the other day for the first time with one of my own clients, I found it so easy to use! It syncs with your Apple calendar so it automatically reminds you when the next appointment is, which is incredibly handy to me because I have a terrible memory!! I don't know about you other artists but i'm sick of writing notes down on some paper or in my notes app on my phone.

Definitely a recommended purchase for me!
Vist the website for more information or just go AHEAD and purchase IndustryPRO.

28.11.12 - CASSANDRA ROBINSON

A few weeks ago, I did the makeup for the beautiful Cassandra Robinson, photographed by the talented Rachel Aust, styled by the fabulous Ashleigh Kelly

The makeup was to be clean, simple and defining. Initially I thought of beautiful luminous creamy skin, soft highlights and defining contours.

The photoshoot was shot on location in Brisbane, which proved to be quite difficult with so much wind, and me not bringing any hair products or accessories! Note to self: pack a basic hair kit next time!

The skin was prepped with Moisture Infusion Prep and Prime, Strobe Cream and the foundation was Face and Body and built the coverage up using Studio Finish concealer.

I used Painterly paint pot as an eyeshadow base, with Era eyeshadow blended all over the eye, and Teddy Eye Kohl smudged all the way around and in the lash line, with Carbon eyeshadow pressed in.

Lightly contoured with Bone Beige Pro Sculpting Powder, and a mixture of Silver Dusk and Honey Rose loose highlighting powder.

The first look with the lips was Subculture lipliner with Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick, and the second being Vino lipliner with Smoked Purple lipstick.

16.11.12 - DON'T BE A DRAG, JUST BE A QUEEN!

Hey guys, as my first ~official~ post, I thought I would share some fun work I did a few days ago with one of my best friends and fellow artist Rhiannon from CVNT.

We thought it would be quite fun to experiment doing some drag makeup. After an hour of trial and error of different glitters and pigments, we finally came up with a look now known as Yvonna Jackov.

I hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I did creating this FIERCE character.
